How We Review and Rate Online Casinos

We have reviewed no-deposit casino offers since 2006, and we are a GPWA-verified site. Our reviews are written and tested by our editorial team — not by the casinos. This page explains how we test casinos, what we score, what our ratings mean, and how we stay independent.

What we score

Every casino is judged against the same criteria, weighted toward the things that actually protect players and their money:

  • Licensing & safety — who regulates the casino and how much protection that gives you. This carries the most weight; see what casino licences mean for your safety.
  • Bonuses & fair terms — the size of the offer, but above all the wagering requirement and maximum cash-out behind it (see how no-deposit bonuses work).
  • Games & software — the range and quality of slots and table games, and the providers behind them.
  • Banking & payout speed — deposit and withdrawal options, limits, and how quickly winnings are actually paid.
  • Customer support — availability and quality of help when something goes wrong.
  • Responsible gambling — the tools the casino offers to keep play under control.

How we test

Wherever possible we register a real account, claim the no-deposit offer, play the games and put the casino through its paces — including starting a withdrawal to see how the cashier and verification behave. We check the licence on the regulator's own register, read the bonus terms in full, and note anything that could trip up a player. Where we can't complete a hands-on test, we say so.

Our rating scale

  • 5 stars — excellent: strong licence, fair terms, fast payouts, no significant complaints.
  • 4 stars — very good, with only minor drawbacks.
  • 3 stars — average or mixed: usable, but with real caveats (often a weaker licence or steep terms).
  • 2 stars — below average: notable risks; proceed only with caution and only on a no-deposit basis.
  • 1 star / blacklisted — avoid; listed on our blacklist.

Why a low-rated casino can still be listed

How we set the score

Our star rating is not a single opinion. Wherever independent data exists, we benchmark each casino against the average of several reputable review sites — typically Casino.Guru (Safety Index), AskGamblers, LCB, Wizard of Odds and Trustpilot — normalized to our 5-star scale, and we state how many sources we used. Affiliate-driven "top 10" sites that inflate scores are weighted out. This keeps each rating anchored to industry consensus rather than to us, and it is why some casinos we cover score around 3 stars even when their bonuses look generous.

We rate honestly, so some casinos we cover score 2.5 or 3 stars. A weaker or offshore licence lowers the score — but it doesn't always mean "never try". When a casino offers a genuine no-deposit bonus, it can still be worth a low-risk look, because you can test it without depositing your own money. That's the case with reviews such as Slots Plus, Sun Palace, Las Vegas USA and Vegas Casino Online: honest scores, clear risks, and a free way to judge for yourself.

Independence & affiliate disclosure

This site is free to read because some outbound links are affiliate links: if you sign up through them we may earn a commission, at no cost to you. This never changes how we score a casino or what we write. Our ratings come from testing and the criteria above, not from commercial relationships — and casinos cannot pay for a better review.

Play responsibly

Gambling is for adults only (18+, or 21+ in some US jurisdictions) and should be treated as entertainment, never as a way to make money. If it stops being fun, free and confidential help is available through BeGambleAware and GamCare in the UK, and the National Council on Problem Gambling / 1-800-GAMBLER in the US.
